VISA REQUIREMENTS

WHAT DO I NEED TO GET INTO CAMBODIA?

Any visitor needs a visa to enter the country. The visa can be obtained in Cambodian embassies abroad or at the airport upon arrival (two photos needed). Single entry tourist visas and business visas cost US$50 and are valid for one month, which can be extended to a multi-entry yearly visa at any travel agency. CURRENCY & PAYMENTS

The Cambodian national currency is Riels but US$ is widely accepted everywhere. The conversion is 1$US = app 4000Riels. Make sure to have small notes (1,000Riels, 10,000Riels, 50,000Riels) for tuktuk rides and small shops as they might not have enough change for big notes (50$ and 100$). Torn and worn-out bills are also not accepted.

SEASON & WEATHER

Cambodia is located just above the equator and the usual temperature is from 21° - 35°C (69.8 to 98° F). It has 2 seasons all throughout the year. During rainy season, the rain normally scatters through the day and lasts for about 30 mins. It is advisable to wear light and thin clothes, though sometimes it gets cold for few days (Dec, Jan) so you might want to bring an extra sweater. The dry seasons starts from October to April, with a usual temperature range of 21 to 35 °C (69.8 to 95 °F), April is usually the hottest month of the year, when temperatures start to climb to 40 °C (104 °F).

What to wear:

Light, breathable clothing is recommended year-round.
An extra sweater is useful during December–January, when evenings can be cooler.

  • • Free Wi-Fi is widely available in hotels, cafés, and restaurants

GETTING AROUND

  • • Tuk tuks are the most common form of local transportation

  • • Ride-hailing apps are also available in Phnom Penh
